FREE Memoir Writing Workshop:
Author, Mike Trial and AKA-Publishing’s Yolanda Ciolli are hosting a FREE workshop for the Columbia Public Library.
Mike will give his perspective on several approaches he has taken in writing different types of memoirs. Included in his talk will be general family history, a special tribute, a week or a year in time, and the fictionalized novel style reminiscence. Writing exercises will be explored to help with focus, imagination, and adding color with words.
Yolanda will field specific questions that address publishing issues, including publishing only for your family and offering your book for sale to the public, and how these choices effect your costs. Exercises for publishing insight will be thought provoking and help you develop your mission.
AKA-Publishing will be providing workbooks for exercises.
The Library will be providing breakfast type refreshments and coffee.

Feedback from AKA-Publishing’s last workshop with guest host, Wayne Anderson;
“There was no one bit of information that was more valuable than another, in my mind. It was all helpful in a very practical way. Also the input from the guests and learning from them and hearing what they were and are working on was great.”
~ Dwight, previous workshop attendee
“The info on the sources available for printing my family history project for my family members gave me some ideas for a starting point on how I might put all my information together. ”
~ Cheryl, previous workshop attendee
“I enjoyed yesterday’s meeting and found it beneficial. The exposure to a variety of approaches to memoirs and family history was particularly useful. I need to do some serious thinking about how to attack my projects…I can’t think of a piece that was missing.”
